4 Prisoners Passed WASSCE With Flying Colors In Sunyani

A prison is referred to as a facility in
which inmates are forcibly confined and denied a variety of freedoms
under the authority to the state as a form of punishment. 
Due to the definition above, many people think and believe that, prison is the worst place to be especially in Ghana. 

Recent follow ups shows that, the Brong Ahafo regional
capital Sunyani, prison authorities registered four (4) inmates to write
wassce last year for five (5) courses. These courses comprises of
Social Studies, Business management, financial accounting, principle of
cost accounting and economics. 
However, The News Hunter Magazine can confirmed that, one
if the prisoners had 5 A(s)  as the result of the exams they wrote.
Another inmate followed with 3 A(s),  1 B(3),and 1B(2) another also had 2
B(2) 1 B(3), D(7) and 1 C. The last one also had 2 B(3) A(1)  C(4) and
B(3).
Speaking with The News Hunter Magazine, the regional public
relations officer of the Brong Ahafo region, ASP Ziniel stated
categorically that, the prisoner who had 5 A(s)  was sentenced for 25
years, of which he addressed the issue as a problem. 
According to the P.R.O, philanthropist, human rights
activists, and other lawyers should come to their aid to do anything
possible to help if they could check the cases to reduce their sentence.
He said if possible, the prisoners could be discharge through appeal,
for them to continue their education. 
Moreover, ASP Ziniel revealed that, they are also thinking
about distance education if the initial plan for the prisoners doesn’t
work. 
Furthermore, the assistance headmaster of Sunyani prisons
sergeant Francis Narpor also disclosed that, they are preparing six(6)
inmates for this year wassce. Therefore, philanthropist should come to
their aid and help.
