Ghanaian musician, Gladstorm Kwabena Akwaboah Jnr., simply known as Akwaboah, has revealed the sacrifice he made before becoming an artiste.
He opened up about this sacrifice in a recent interview that Newshuntermag.com came across.
The ‘Hye Me Bo’ singer divulged how he sacrificed his paying job as an instrumentalist to focus on his dream as an artiste.
During that period, the famous Ghanaian singer and songwriter said he stayed hungry for about a year.
“Being an instrumentalist, playing for people and they will give you small money so I said this job I no go do again. I literary came home with nothing and it was not as if I had some money somewhere to spend. I stayed behind to write my songs. When people call me for shows as an instrumentalist I say no, I want to become an artiste and stayed hungry for like a year,” he disclosed in an interview with Valerie Danso on the GTV Breakfast Show.
Akwaboah indicated that it took about seven (7) years to build the solid brand people see today.
He, therefore, advised budding talents not to rush and focus on trends, instead, they should take time and uniquely work on their crafts.
Akwaboah is credited to have written Becca’s hit song “Daa ke Daa”, DSP Kofi Sarpong’s” Ayeyi Ndwom” and others.
As a keyboardist, he has gotten gigs both locally and internationally.
He is one of the finest musicians in Ghana.
