Group Threatens Demo Against MUSIGA National Executives

In an era where demonstrations tend to be the order of the day, a group calling themselves Concerned Members of the Musicians Union of Ghana, (MUSIGA) has threatened to demonstrate against the national executives of the union in the coming days to register their displeasure at the current event in MUSIGA

The convener of the group Bennett Asante Nkrumah Sarpong AKA Nana Kotopre hinted that the demonstration will be based on the following points:

1. We want the national executives to step down with immediate effect.
2. We want the national executives to come out and update us on the state of the union’s finances ahead of the elections.
3. We recommend that every card bearing member of the union be allowed to vote in the upcoming elections, if the person’s card is out of date, the person should be allowed to renew the card.
4. Aside the card renewal helping the members exercising their voting rights, it will also help the union get money from the renewal.

The demonstration dubbed: “If the fool becomes wise, then the game is over,” according to them, is meant to be a wake-up call to the MUSIGA executives to find lasting solutions to the prevailing election and accountability challenges.

Bennett Asante Nkrumah Sarpong revealed that the group has more than 1, 000 members are scheduled to demonstrate against Bessa Simons and his Executives.

“We will demonstrate. What is going on is bad. There is no acting President in our constitution. The entire national executives have ended their tenure of office since 2019 but they are still in office,” Bennett stated.

Asked why they can’t go to the law court for redress, he said: “We won’t go to the law court again. Ras Appiah Caleb did it but for us, we won’t. We will rather demonstrate until the government of Ghana hears our cry.”
