Joyce Blessing Laments Backbiting Within The Ghanaian Gospel Music Scene

Ghanaian gospel musician, Joyce Blessing has lamented how backbiting has taken a centre stage within the industry.

Speaking in an interview with Graphic Showbiz, Joyce was shocked about the behaviour of some of her colleagues.

“This problem has been there since time immemorial. When you are new, no one talks about you but once you become famous and start getting the gigs that is when it all starts. More than three Gospel musicians have said bad things about me to event organisers because I had the chance to perform at those events and not them,” she stated.

The situation has made her shine her eyes and she is careful about who to choose as a friend.

“I don’t just make friends; I need to be sure who I take in as a friend. I don’t want to discuss something with a friend and the next day hear it somewhere else.

“My husband is my everything and that has helped me to stay out of trouble. I discuss whatever worries me and he gives me the right answers,” she said.

According to her, combining music with being a mother and a wife had not been an easy task.

“It is very tedious being a musician, a mother and a wife but I thank God I have a supportive family who are always there to support me. My husband is such a wonderful person and I thank God for giving me such a wonderful man. I don’t have to worry about anything when I am not around,” Joyce Blessing revealed.
