The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Slip Entertainment, Mark Okraku Mantey is wondering whether tithes paid by church members are used to do the work of God.

Mark, who claims he has never paid a tithe before stressed that those who work in the churches must benefit from the tithe given.

He said his decision of not paying that was influenced by somebody called Brother Dan Owusu Asiamah of the Church of Christ, who argued that the payment of tithe was for a certain era.

“He even backs his submissions with bible quotations…because I don’t know the bible too well, I will not try,” Okraku Mantey told Andy Dosty on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz.

“…Let’s find out from those who work in the church whether they benefit from the tithe given in church. They are supposed to be the beneficiaries of that money.

“Why are we saying that we don’t want an eye for an eye because it is in the Old Testament? But as for tithe, we like it because some people are benefiting…,” he said.

Read below some Bible quotes about the payment of tithes:

2 Corinthians Chapter 9:6-7

6 But this [I say], He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, [so let him give]; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
Malachi 3:10 – Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that [there shall] not [be room] enough [to receive it].

Malachi 3:8 – Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.

2 Corinthians 9:7 – Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, [so let him give]; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

Luke 11:42 – But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

Proverbs 3:9 – Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:
