Military Officer shot dead by suspected armed robbers on Prang-Kintampo road

A military officer has met his untimely death on the Prang-Kintampo road in the Pru East District of the Bono East Region.

A report filed by JoyNews’ Anass Sabit and sighted by Ghananewspost.com said the military officer, Sgt. Odei Job Kwame was shot and killed by the suspected armed robbers around 9 pm on Friday, May 21, 2021, near Abease.

The officer, who is in his early 40s, sustained gunshot wounds during a shootout when he bumped into the gang of robbers on his way to Yeji where he hails from.

“The robbers, upon spotting the military officer, sensed danger and asked him to step down from his car. He complied, but they beat him up mercilessly before some of them suggested that they kill him,” DSP Eric Awiadem, the Yeji District Police Commander confirmed the sad news.

“He pleaded with them and in the process, he decided to run away, they chased him, caught him and eventually, one of them shot and killed him before they fled into the Bush,” DSP Eric Awiadem added.

Sadly, the military officer was in a pool of blood when the police got to the scene after they were informed.

He was pronounced dead at the St. Mattias hospital in Yeji. His body has been deposited at the Hospital’s morgue.

Currently, investigations are underway.
