With a quick whisk, Accra- based XYZ Broadcasting Limited, the mother company of Radio XYZ and TV XYZ has swept Sunyani-based Sky FM’s morning show host,  Kofi Oppong Asamoah.

Before he left for Accra,  Kofi, who is popularly known as KOA,  was also the host of the station’s health programme, Saturday Morning Edition (SME).

He took over the morning show from Ultimate FM’s Morning Show host,  Lantam Papanko as the host of the Sky Big Breakfast Show(BBS) on April 11, 2016 till mid September this year, after he had been a producer of the show since 2014.

Sky 96.7 FM is the first radio station Kofi has worked with. He started as an intern in 2013 when a student at the Catholic University College in Sunyani.

His passion for broadcasting put him ahead of his peers in the news room till he became the head of Talk and Current Affairs.

The knack and dexterity with which he hosted the BBS put him in the highest echelons of radio hosts, and was admired by all and sundry within the Sunyani municipality, and some parts of the Brong Ahafo Region.

Though not the creme de la creme among his predecessors,  Kofi’s  vivaciousness and ebullience coupled with his fruity yet modulated voice was always a delight to wake up to every weekday.

When illegal mining (galamsey) was at its peak in the Brong Ahafo Region early this year,  he took it upon himself to walk and campaign to end the menace. He eventually drew authorities’ attention to the problem when his walk dubbed KOA Walks For Tano got support from the entire municipality.

The campaign made him an authority in the media fraternity, when the Media Coalition Against illegal mining commended him for his patriotism and started planning with him on how best they could sensitise the region on the dangers of galamsey.

Kofi is with the News team at XYZ Radio and TV. He’s currently co-hosting the radio station’s 6PM news,  News Wire with Nasaara Rahman.

Kofi Oppong Asamoah  will also be co-hosting the XYZ Morning Express with Prince Minkah.
