A group of NPP youth across the country today paid a courtesy call on Mr. Kofi Arthur, President and founder of Young Patriotic Crusaders, a grassroot group within the NPP which played an extraordinary role towards the momentous and unprecedented successes of the NPP.
The spokesperson of the youth, Kingsley Asiamah indicated that their visit and mission of it was necessitated by the sacrifices and exemplary role Mr. Kofi Arthur played at the grassroot level to ensure the Victory of some difficult areas and Constituencies was not a mean achievement.
He further went on to recount that at some point when hopes had been lost on one constituency and all though considering situation on the ground NPP was not going to win the seat, Mr. Kofi Arthur lifted their spirits high with these words *” Even though the terrain is difficult
but nothing is unsurmountable”* this he intimated really energized them to go the extra mile to work harder.
Touching on the real purpose for their visit, he said and I quote *”Our mission here is to plead with you to consider contesting the National Youth Organiser position
for the upcoming elections since you are the best person to take the Youth wing to the next level and for that matter the voice for the grassroot “* these words were met with rapturous applause charging the atmosphere to the brim. This was followed with chants *” Kofi Arthur the best man, Chairman Arthur the only hope for the grassroot “*
On his part addressing the crowd, Mr. Kofi Arthur expressed his sincere gratitude to the expectant youth and further acknowledged the level of confidence reposed in him and indicated that their intentions for him are noble and over whelming however he would have to engaged
in wider consultations so a decision he would arrived at would accepted by all.
He then admonished the youth not to follow aspirants because of money but should be about what they have to offer, *” Don’t root for any candidate whom at the end of contest can’t do the grassroot work and even turn his back on these same youth who worked for him but should
stand for what they believe in”* he again stated that *” Do not allow yourself to be induced with money as a young politician. If you want to succeed as a young politician be steady and work hard for what you believe in. If you cloud your political choice with the level of inducements that come your way then you are not a trustworthy
politician. In politics it’s always better for you to have people you identify yourself with in authority than for you to be paid to accept a particular candidate..”*
After his address the youth expressed their satisfaction and
excitement at the wise counsel given them and vowed to adhere to his advise.
In his concluding remarks, the Spokeperson for the group Kingsley Asiamah thanked Chairman Kofi Arthur and the entire members who joined the team to embark on this fruitful venture and encouraged others who
would want add their voice to the call.
