Efya
Born Jane Efya Awindor, She jumped onto the Ghanaian music scene
in 2008 when she made it as one the finalists of the music reality show “Stars
of the Future”.

The extraordinary talent display of Efya has led to her
performing on some of the biggest stages in Africa and beyond.

In a recent interview on LOUD IN GH with Ike Frimpong on
Saturday, Efya shared the story and idea behind her Debut studio Album
“JANESIS” which was launched a few weeks ago.
“JANESIS is basically my first Album, even though I have
put out a lot of music over the years, we eventually decided on the compilation
so we put out the first one which was THIS IS NOT THE ALBUM (T.I.N.T) and now
we have the Album”
For such a successful singer like Efya, one would assume should
have one or more Albums to her name. But according to the songstress, the delay
in putting out an album was just a move to make sure the time was right to present
her fans with the Album.
“We just wanted to it right, we had lots of songs out, and
a mix tape out. It’s just about the right time for it” she added.
The Album which features award winning artists like Sarkodie,
EL, Stonebwoy, Bisa K dei, Nigeria’s Ice Prince , has about 22 tracks and was
produced by some amazing engineers like legendary beats and Kill beatz. The
whole recording of the Album according to Efya lasted for a period of 4 years.
Speaking on her incredible connection with one of the biggest
talents in Africa, Sarkodie, Efya outlined that they had been friends for quite
a long while “I have known Sarkodie for a while ,can’t really remember
” she added
Following the big announcement made by Nigeria’s sensational
artist and CEO of Starboy records, WizKid, on signing the singer and other
artists such as Mr Eazi and R2bees, most Ghanaians wondered whether Efya had
parted ways with her old record label. But Efya threw more light on the
interpretation of the entire contract.
“it’s a collaboration between my record label which is one
nation and Starboy Records. We came together to work together as a team .Which
means more exposure, more shows and more music” she explained
Efya’s also disclosed that there were a couple of unreleased
singles with Sarkodie and other artists. She is also planning on embarking on a
nationwide tour with her whole crew. The date for the tour will be announced in
the coming weeks.
JANESIS is also available on Tidal, Spotify ITunes and Deezer.
