Ghana: Two policemen nabbed in the Volta Region for trading ‘wee’

The Volta Regional Police Command has arrest­ed two police officers

for their alleged involvement in the drug trade in the region.

The two were arrested on Saturday for allegedly con­veying substances

suspected to be Indian hemp popularly known as ‘wee’ in a police

vehicle.

An eyewitness of the arrest which occurred at Sokode-Lokoe on the

out­skirts of Ho, the regional capi­tal, said the two cops were

stopped by their colleagues at the Sokode-Lokoe barrier.

Another source close to the police hinted that the duo was first

stopped by the high­way patrol team between Have and Bame but refused

to stop.

This the eyewitness claimed, made the highwaypatrol team suspicious

and therefore decided to follow them. They then hinted other personnel

at the Bame and the Sokode- Lokoe barriers. The two, who managed to

flee from the Bame barrier, were then arrested at the Sokode Lokoe

barrier.

Daily Guide sources also revealed that the driver of the Indian

hemp-filled police vehicle happens to be the driver of the Commanding

Officer of the Volta Regional Police Training School.

When contacted, the Volta Regional Police Commander DCOP Peterkin

Yentumi Gyi nae, confirmed that there that been such a bust. He then

promised that he was gather­ing adequate information before meeting

the media to brief them on the happening.
