Sunyani Polytechnic Needs Financial Clearance To Replace Retired Staff--Prof. Djang-Fordjour

Rector of Sunyani Polytechnic, Prof. Thomas Kwadwo Djang-Fordjour has
appealed to the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning to give the
Polytechnic financial clearance to enable them replace retired staff
and also engage new ones.

Prof. Djang-Fordjour said the Polytechnic is facing some difficulties
such as inadequate academic facilities, high attrition and retirement
rates of staff especially in the School of Engineering.

He made this known at the Polytechnic's 19th Matriculation Ceremony on
Friday, December 19, 2014 which was held at the school's auditorium in

The Polytechnic admitted one thousand four hundred and ninety-six
(1,496) students into the various programmes at the tertiary and
non-tertiary levels in the 2014/2014 admissions.
From this number, one thousand and twenty-six (1,026) were males while
four hundred and thirty two (432) were females.
For the non-tertiary programmes, two hundred and fifty-one (251)
applicants were offered admission. Seventy-seven (77) were males while
one hundred and seventy-four (174) were females.

Currently, the Polytechnic runs twenty-six (26) full-time tertiary
programmes including two (2) Bachelor of Technology (B-Tech)
programmes, twenty (20) Higher National Diploma (HND) and (4)
Technician programmes. The Polytechnic also admits students into six
(6) professional programmes at the tertiary level, seven (7) Pre-HND
access courses and twenty-two (22) technicians, advanced and craft
programmes at the Non-Tertiary levels.

The students were advised to be discipline and Law-abiding and that
the authorities would not tolerate any form of negative acts that
would jeopardize the reputation of the Polytechnic.
