Ghanaian musician KiDi has expressed concern about the state of the music industry in Ghana, saying it has become unappealing to investors.

The “Odo” hitmaker said even though artistes strive every day to make the best of what they have, that is not enough as the industry provides little support for musicians to thrive.

He was speaking to Berla Mundi in an interview on “The Day Show” which was monitored by Newshuntermag.com.

“We are doing our best with what we have. I know it’s a tough conversation but if you have conversations with Ghanaian creatives, you’ll realize that everybody is really doing their best with what they have. Of course, people will wish for catalysts, things that will put whatever we’re doing on a wider horizon, but this is what we have even though we’re fighting. We won’t fold our arms and complain. We will work till we get to that stage where we have what we want,” he said.

Speaking on the importance of investors to boost the industry, KiDi lamented what he described as an unattractive system in place that repels investors, instead of inviting their support.

“If I am an investor and I am coming to invest in a system, what is the system? There is no system to even be attractive, all of that is scattered from roots,” he observed.

When asked how he and other artistes have been surviving amidst the challenges, he said, “Just vibes and inshallah and the grace of God, I won’t lie to you.”

According to him, passion is the only thing that drives several artistes to keep doing what they do.

“That’s why for a lot of us, it’s our passion. Passion is the difference between when the thing is weighing you down, you’re still pushing because it’s what you love so we’ll keep working hard. I will not sit down and say this thing is not working for me. There are things that are bad, but my mentality is to always forge on and keep going,” he added.
