Gospel musician and Police Officer, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Kofi Sarpong, has raised concerns about the abuse of the now popular drug known as Tramadol.
The hardworking gospel musician added his voice on the issue of Tramadol abuse, especially by the youth while speaking with DJ Murphy Lee, host of the Mid-Morning Show on Bohye FM, Kumasi.
The voice behind the hit song “Boboobo” expressed his worry on how Tramadol is causing havoc to people in the country.
“There’s been this issue which has been in circulation for some time now and that is the abuse of the drug known as Tramadol which is causing immense harm to our youth. I will plead with all Ghanaians to be very vigilant and desist from abusing or misusing the drug,” he said.
CSP Kofi Sarpong added: “It is all about time. Use whatever little you have a good cause for your time will definitely come. Drug abuse is not the way to go about with anything. Let’s do what we can so that our country Ghana can become a much better place for us all to live in.”
Tramadol Abuse
Tramadol, which is a pain reliever according to medical experts have some psychotic effects and comes with problems such as damage to vital organs in the human body.
Despite increasing fight against the damage-causing drug, a vast section of Ghanaians, – traders, drivers and even students – people seem to have turned death ears to the warnings sounded by agencies on the abuse of the drug.
The Food and Drug Authority has joined forces with other agencies to eliminate the illegal entry and sale of Tramadol among the youth.
