A Physician at the Seventh Day Adventist Church Hospital in
Sunyani, Dr. Ebenezer Ofori Agyemang has advised hepatitis B patients to be
careful with their diet.

Dr. Ebenezer Ofori Sarpong speaking in an exclusive
interview with News Hunter Magazine’s Kofi Oppong Kyekyeku said hepatitis B patients can
prolong their lifespan if they eat more vegetables and fruits.
The Physician also advised against alcoholism and smoking
habit, adding that it will be deadly if they engage in such practices.
“Drinking alcohol can cause alcoholic hepatitis, so people
with this disease should desist from smoking and alcoholism. I will also advise
against eating fatty foods. I suggest they should eat more vegetables and
fruits,” he enunciated.
According to him, there is more hope for people suffering
from hepatitis B if they take their drugs seriously—and eat healthy meals.

“Hepatitis B is a potentially life-threatening liver infection caused by the
hepatitis B virus. It is a major global health problem. It can cause chronic
infection and puts people at high risk of death from cirrhosis and liver
cancer.

“A vaccine against hepatitis B has been available since 1982. The vaccine is
95% effective in preventing infection and the development of chronic disease
and liver cancer due to hepatitis B,” according to the World Health
Organization.
