School Pupils At Nwowasu Primary Sit On Walls During Class Hours

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Class one and class two pupils at the Nwowasu local Presby Primary and
Junior High School in the Atronie Circuit of the Ghana Education Service in the
Sunyani Municipality have no table and chairs.

They sit on the walls of the classroom blocks to read and write during
lesson hours.

This unpleasant situation was confirmed when the Sky News visited the
school last Tuesday following a report by some parents in the farming
community.

During the visit some of the school children were seen sitting on the
walls of the classroom writing their lesson notes.

Those who could not climb the wall were however spotted lying and
sitting on the on the floor.

Some few of the school children in the two classes were also seen
managing on a bench to do their class work.

Mr Martin Kwafo, the Head Teacher of the school told Sky News in a
telephone interview that though the school has informed the Municipal
Directorate of Education, nothing has been done on the matter.

He said the school had a population of about 180 students and it
needed about 80 desks.
