The kojo Antwi sound-alike as he has been referred to had an interview on Friday, 5 February on Radio xyz’s Morning show hosted by FELIX K.VANDERPALIN as part of the promotion of his recent single “Osugyani”.
Kwasi Pee vehemently told the host how disappointing the MUSIGA has been to Musicians expecially him.
“I haven’t benefited from MUSIGA in any way since I joined MUSIGA from 1996”. To him MUSIGA is a complete failure especially when they(Musicians) had hope in a young president like obour.
“May be MUSIGA has benefited some other musicians but myself. So i can’t honestly say thumbs up in anyway. I don’t get any benefit from their Shows”
He further commented that the music industry in Ghana in general has no good future looking at things now.
He went on to reiterate his earlier pronouncement about radio presenters and dj’s asking for “Payola” before playing his songs.
” I sometimes ask such dj’s if they take “payola” from the foreign artist they’ve been playing their songs and the only answer I get is, that’s our choice”.According to the ME HIA ODO singer this won’t help our industry in any way.
He concluded that the earlier generation of musicians could pat the shoulders of the new ones who idolises such pacesetters but to his surprise the reality is otherwise. To him it could have been easier if his Idol Kojo Antwi who could have helped him tremendously had done such in his early beginnings as an artist but that never happened because of reasons he has no idea of.
He thinks that could help in the perpetuality of our music industry.
