Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...
The Sunyani Prisons Service has
pleaded with cooperate entities for help in the Brong Ahafo region.

P.R.O of the Brong Ahafo Regional Prisons Service, ASP Ziniel B. Vincent, said
the prisons service at the moment lacks logistics to serve inmates
better.

He revealed that, an officer called brother Kombia has been

volunteering by using his own vehicle to carry prisoners to hospital and other places.

He said, anybody who can get us even an old vehicle to convey the
prisoners to hospital will make their day.

ASP Ziniel B. Vincent explained that, as at now the inmates in their custody are about 896, but the initial number supposed to be 400 to 500 inmates.

However, he said, what we are also advocating for is non custodial center. He further noted that, if someone steals cassava or any other petty things, he or she should be given community hard labor to reduce
congestion of the prisons.

Unequivocal, ASP Ziniel disclosed that, before even the establishment of prison, it was the chiefs who were settling various issues in the various communities.

“Let’s try to use the chiefs so that petty offenses should not be brought to the prisons. Until we give respect to the chiefs, the prison will continue to be congested,” he added.

The prisons also shown attitude of gratitude to Nana Hemaa of Yawhima in the Brong Ahafo region, Nana Saah Gyamfoa and other philanthropist who came to their aid during the Christmas Eve.
